RAVENS IN THE GRAVEYARD
A senseless murder,
a gullible cowboy, and one unusual witness.
Will Bosal be able to save the Professional Butterfly from the noose? Or will the callous judge get his way and hang one more wayward soul?
“Well written and smooth as glass
from cover to cover.” —Josh B.
Born with a simple mind and left without family, Bosal Moon grew up under the shadow of ridicule and loneliness. Now he must escape the only home he has ever known: Dozen, the dust-laden town morality had deserted long ago. Bosal leans on his sole friend for wisdom: Preacher August Maloney.
Each day, August tends to the ravens that flock to the graveyard outside his lonesome little church. Harbingers of wayward souls, he calls them. But the most wayward soul of all belongs to the Professional Butterfly, a ravishing woman with a talent for bleeding men of their integrity. Bored and broke, the Butterfly turns her attention on August and hatches a brilliant scheme to deliver him from a disaster of biblical proportions.
But her risky actions result in a shocking and untimely death. All fingers point to the Butterfly as the murderer. Only one witness remains, and he isn’t talking.
Will Bosal be able to save the Professional Butterfly from the noose? Or will the callous judge get his way and hang one more wayward soul?

“How’s it feel, Butterfly, to have your life hanging on Backward Bosal and a featherbrained bird?”
“It can be a big, scary world when you’re alone, Bosal,” Preacher often told him, “but you’re only as alone as you let yourself be.”
“Bosal did not notice the break in the mob nor the lull in activity. What he noticed were the iridescent shadows overhead. They were dropping from limb to limb, closer and closer, until they lined the lower branch. “

The movie poster for Ravens in the Graveyard was a bit difficult to pull together. I did not have a model for Bosal Moon, but I knew I wanted my own designer, Jenna Miller, to portray the Professional Butterfly. Jenna lives in Tombstone, and with access to her own photography studio, I knew she would come through with flying colors. She read the story first, and had her talented husband Craig Hensley step in as the Preacher. For Bosal Moon she pulled in Zach Etter, a talented model and actor. The three of them set up a photo-shoot on the other side of the country and floored me, once again, with her sheer vision, artistry and talent. Oh how I wished I could be a part of that shoot!
In addition to the main poster and a character poster of both Bosal Moon and The Professional Butterfly (played by herself), Jenna also designed the front cover of the book, Ravens in the Graveyard.
